Did Toto Wolff and Max Verstappen really meet in Sardinia, as widely rumored? The Mercedes team principal has finally set the record straight once and for all.
There’s been plenty of speculation in recent weeks about Max Verstappen’s future in Formula 1. The Dutchman has long been linked to a potential move to Mercedes, and it’s no secret that Toto Wolff would be interested in securing the four-time world champion.
Recently, both Wolff and Verstappen happened to be present on the Italian island of Sardinia at the same time.
The news quickly spread through the paddock, with many assuming the two were there to discuss a possible deal.

Wolff cryptic about 'meeting' Verstappen

While he didn’t explicitly deny seeing Verstappen there, he stressed that it doesn’t mean anything — it could simply be a coincidence.
"Just because you’re on vacation in the same area doesn’t mean you’re working together in Formula 1. We’ve always had a good relationship. It’s just a coincidence that we happen to spend our holidays in similar places.”
