Former Formula 1 driver Marcus Ericsson is getting by outside Formula 1. The Swede, who raced in the king class of motorsport through 2018, was back in the car at IndyCar qualifying on Saturday afternoon. He fell just short of pole position.
Ericsson's final flying lap was just not fast enough to knock Kyle Kirkwood off pole, but the Swede is happy with a starting spot on the outside of the front row for Sunday's race. "I am really happy with today's result," Ericsson said in an interview with RACER.

Improvements Ericsson

Ericsson had indicated that his weakest point was qualifying. He himself also has no idea why he is now performing on Saturday. “I cannot point at this or this reason is why I’m doing better,” he said. “The progress is about working hard and working on all aspects as a driver."
"My whole IndyCar career is about progress, getting better and better and stronger. Now we are a better team again this year, and I am a better driver. I think everyone should look out, because we’re in it and we’re going to fight it all the way through."
