Red Bull expands: the Austrians start a team in this sport too!

Red Bull Racing's Formula 1 team probably catches the eye the most, but the Austrian group is active in more sports. There are football clubs in Germany and the United States, for example. They can also be found in motorsport and extreme sports. Red Bull are now adding a new sport: cycling.

Red Bull acquired 51 per cent of the shares of the cycling team's parent companies (RD Pro Cycling GmbH & Co and RD Beteiligungs GmbH) at the end of December, several media reported. The takeover has not yet been officially announced, as objections can still be filed with the German competition authority until 26 January.

According to German media, Bora-Hansgrohe does not want to comment on the news for the time being. As a result, it is also unknown whether there will be a name change and the pro team will operate in the peloton under the name Red Bull. Primos Roglic recently signed a contract for the cycling team, Bora-Hansgrohe. He won the Giro last season.
