'Sainz becomes teammate of Gasly, who extends his contract at Alpine'

Pierre Gasly is to extend his contract at Alpine, with Carlos Sainz becoming the Frenchman's teammate during the 2025 season. This is what L'Équipe says a few days before the Austrian Grand Prix. Gasly's news will come out through the factory team's official channels on Thursday morning, according to the French newspaper.

Esteban Ocon, Gasly's current teammate, is leaving Alpine at the end of the season. This leaves one seat free which the newspaper seems certain Sainz will fill. Sainz is leaving Ferrari at the end of this season.

The Spaniard at the Italian Scuderia will see Lewis Hamilton in the car next season alongside Charles Leclerc, so Sainz is looking for a new employer. The French newspaper expects Gasly's contract extension to come out on Thursday morning. If and when Sainz will be announced is not known.
