Mercedes learns from porpoising, sidepodless concept stays

Mercedes does not expect to suffer any more porpoising next season with the W14, as the new car is called, writes Formu1a.com. The German team now understands the problem so well that it is capable of avoiding it entirely.

Behind the scenes, Mercedes had great faith in the W13 at the beginning of the calendar year, but partly because of porpoising, all hopes quickly fell apart. The team went in search of a solution. It eventually succeeded in doing so, although this took until the second half of the season.

With their new knowledge and understanding of the issues, the team expects that with the sidepodless concept it will be able to make things difficult for rivals Red Bull Racing and Ferrari.
