Schumacher's perspective: Verstappen could surprise McLaren once again

Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, Schumacher said, ’They could only lose to themselves."

Verstappen did not fare well in Barcelona. Red Bull Racing experienced issues with tyre wear which made it hard for him to keep up with the McLaren driver. While Verstappen as on pace with a three-stop strategy, he ultimalty lost out due to a last minute safety car.

The 2024 Canadian Grand Prix was not one Verstappen was tipped to win. However, after an exciting and hard-fought race, he stood on the top step of the podium at the end.

Schumacher concluded, ’It's a special circuit, and one should never forget the ‘freak’ weather conditions. We've seen this here multiple times. McLaren, the all-around car, will be good here."
