Who has the advantage in Austin? 'Mercedes' car efficient on the straights'

With only six races to go and a small gap in the title fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen it remains exciting who will be the fastest man every race. This weekend the United States Grand Prix is on the program, a circuit that Hamilton according to Jenson Button suits very well.

It remains to be seen who will be the fastest team on COTA. It has been two years since F1 came to the GP in America and in the past Mercedes always performed well at this circuit. In 2019, Verstappen finished third on the podium.

"It's been such a great fight this year between RB and Mercedes because we really don't know what's going to happen. There's a big straight here which helps [Mercedes] because their car is efficient on the straights compared to the tight twisty circuits", Button says on Sky Sports.

Button was teammates wih Hamilton for three years at McLaren, so the former F1 driver knows better than anyone what it's like to compete with the Mercedes-driver. "Lewis is quick here, when I was his teammate, I couldn't get close to him around here. The way he drives suits this circuit", says Button.
