Weather forecast Hungarian GP: Is there a chance of rain for the Grand Prix?

What will the weather look like this weekend during Formula 1's final round before the summer break? Let's take a look at the forecast.

Formula 1 arrives in Hungary as the circuit celebrates its 40th anniversary and there is an imposing new pit building on the main straight.

Less than a week after the conclusion of the Belgian Grand Prix, F1 arrives in Hungary at the demanding Hungaroing where weather has played a significant part over the years.

Jenson Button took his first Formula 1 win in 2006, amidst difficult conditions, while Esteban Ocon also won his first Grand Prix on a chaotic day in Hungary in 2021.

Oscar Piastri leads the championship standings and holds a 16-point advantage over his nearest rival and teammate, Lando Norris.

McLaren were incredibly strong in Hungary a year ago as Piastri took his first Grand Prix win with Norris in second place.

According to the latest forecasts, Friday is expected to be dry with just a 20% chance of rain from 2pm in the afternoon onwards.

The two Friday practice sessions should therefore be run on a dry track, which should provide all 10 teams with valuable data ahead of Sunday's 70-lap Grand Prix.

Saturday may also be dry for the third practice and the all-important qualifying session on a track that is very difficult to overtake at.

The day is forecast to be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain early in the morning, with lows of around 16°C.

Sunday is forecast to be the most chaotic day of the weekend, weather-wise, with a high chance of showers. There may also be thunder on race day from 3:00.

The rain is expected to decrease throughout the afternoon as the Grand Prix gets underway at 3pm local time.

There is a 40% chance of rain at 3pm local time but the situation may change ahead of the race on Sunday.
