Vettel has Schumacher's back if he needs help

Mick Schumacher may have the weight of the Formula 1 world on his shoulders, with his families heritage behind him, but fellow German Sebastian Vettel will have his back as he prepares to race in Formula 2 for the first time.

Vettel is the only other German to win a world title, with Schumacher Sr holding seven and the current Ferrari driver four. Vettel has offered his support to Mick Schumacher as he prepares to make a significant step towards an F1 debut. Schumacher will drive for Prima racing in F2 in 2019.

Speaking to Sport Bild, Vettel said: “He knows that he can always come to me, if he has questions.

Vettel took a surprise World Championship in 2010 and went onto have huge expectation place upon him which appears to have got to him in recent seasons. The German is well aware of the pressures his compatriot faces.

“On the one hand, he is a successful young driver who has established and recommended himself because of his successes and achievements,” he added.
