Vettel: "I have a simulator, but I'm not focussed on a virtual career"

Sebastian Vettel doesn't like to drive in front of empty grandstands. The driver of Ferrari responds to the idea of F1 to drive the first Grands Prix of the year without spectators, so that despite the coronavirus can still be raced. However, the German thinks it's not a good idea.

"Nobody likes to drive in front of empty bleachers. It just feels weird. Of course, you can drive a race without an audience before that with spectators. You have to weigh the economic aspect of Formula 1, that teams and series survive and the image of the sport", says Vettel to F1-insider.com.

Vettel has always kept a low profile around online racing, but the feeling of racing has crept in because of the many people at home. "Until recently I didn't have a simulator. I now have one, but I still have to build it up. I'm not aiming for a virtual career, but nice for Charles (Leclerc) that he won the virtual GP, but for me it's more of a fun event".

Vettel will not participate in the upcoming virtual Grand Prix. In his place, Callum Ilott will ride in China. Ilott is one of the drivers in the training program of Ferrari, and for now will have to drive against Leclerc, winner of the previous Grand Prix and he will hope to repeat that trick.
