Vettel: "F1 will not be poorer without Alonso"

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel believes that Formula One will not suffer when Fernando Alonso departs from the sport after this weekend's race in Abu Dhabi.

It is former world champion Alonso's last Grand Prix weekend in Formula One, but his former Ferrari rival Vettel does not believe it will have a big impact on the competition.

Vettel believes that the sport is going very fast nowadays that departures, even from big names, don't have too much of an effect on the sport.

When asked if the competition will be poorer without Alonso, Vettel replied to AS: "No, the world keeps turning and it does so very fast, I do not know if we will see a big difference.

Vettel has made many individual errors this season, and many have blamed the German solely for Ferrari not having another world title this season, but he believes even without his mistakes, Scuderia wouldn't have trumped Mercedes this season.

"It's true, I have made mistakes," the German admitted. "But I think Ferrari would not have been a champion, even without my mistakes."
