Red Bull’s Max Verstappen says that he is not concerned about the issues Toro Rosso have had with Honda engines ahead of his team also adopting the engine for 2019.
Red Bull announced a little while ago that they would be switching from long term engine supplier Renault for the 2019 season.
Honda endured plenty of problems as engine supplier to McLaren between 2015 and 2017, but have had more luck this year with Toro Rosso, eventually convincing Red Bull to make the brave switch.
Dutchman Verstappen has won four races since his surprising promotion to Red Bull, replacing Daniil Kvyat mid season and will be hoping that Honda engines can be more reliable than the current Renault ones.
Verstappen saw his Hungarian Grand Prix ended last weekend by an unreliable engine and went on a swear-filled rage over the team radio.

When asked about Honda, Verstappen replied: “I don’t think they have had a lot of issues.
"Most of the time they have had a bad qualifying so it doesn’t make a huge amount of difference for them to take new components, so that is what they are doing.
“They still have quite a few races coming up to understand the package for next year and it is going to be a new engine. They learn from their mistakes, which is good.”
So, can Honda make Red Bull a contender, or was Daniel Ricciardo right to jump ship?
