Verstappen: "We don't have a big, big deficit"

Max Verstappen is well aware of the difficulties Red Bull face in Canada but the Dutchman isn't ruling out what would be a surprise result with Mercedes and Ferrari expected to dominate.
Max Verstappen has shown excellent consistency in 2019, scoring two podiums and has never finished lower than fourth meaning he has never been beaten by both the Ferrari drivers in one race. Despite the Honda engine being clearly slower than both the Mercedes and Ferrari equivalents, the 21-year-old has shown the maturity to make the most of his car.
With Mercedes bringing an upgrade to the race in Montreal, Red Bull are expected to fall further off the pace but Verstappen is remaining optimistic.
"First we have to wait and see how quick we are because at the moment it's just speculation," Verstappen said as quoted by GP Fans.
"Maybe it's better than expected, you never know. We don't have a big, big deficit. We know that we are not the quickest but we'll try to fine-tune everything.

"We have to improve on every single aspect if we really want to challenge Mercedes.
"I'm not massively worried about it, because at the end of the day you can only control what you can control," he added.
