Verstappen makes history again and equals Niki Lauda

His third victory of the season was probably the best this year: Max Verstappen managed to work his way up from ninth starting position to first place in the Miami Grand Prix. Without safety cars or luck, completely on merit. Not only did he take victory, the Dutchman also wrote a new page in the history book of Formula 1.

Previously, Verstappen managed to advance from 10th place (Hungary 2022) and a 14th in Belgium (also in '22) to victory in a Grand Prix. Asked afterwards during the press conference about where he ranks the win in Miami, Verstappen said only: "Yes, it was a good one."

With his victory, he made history (again). For the first time in almost 40 years, a driver won an F1 race from ninth on the grid. At the time, in Dijon, France, Austrian Niki Lauda took victory.

Verstappen also managed to finish in the points for the 24th consecutive time. In doing so, he surpassed Michael Schumacher, who did so 23 times in a row. Incidentally, Lewis Hamilton's record is still a long way off. He finished in the points for 48 consecutive Grands Prix in the past.
