Max Verstappen had little to complain about at Red Bull Racing last season. The Dutchman was given a car that allowed him to leave the competition far behind, while his team also did an excellent job strategically. Despite this, however, things were not without controversy behind the scenes, Verstappen reveals.
The driver thinks it is important that people within the team dare to say something to each other, so that the utmost is done to make the car better. In conversation with New York Times he indicated that he himself does not fail to speak up either.
"We always have a very honest conversation about it. Sometimes, you disagree on things, and that’s fine," Verstappen says. "That’s how it works in life, but it’s always very important to be honest with each other, and really say when something is not correct."
Verstappen is eager to take the world title again in 2023 and therefore hopes his team will be capable of the same as this year. He therefore keeps his team on edge. "At the end of the day, it’s all about who designs the best car, who comes up with the more clever ideas."

Verstappen yet to see perfection

Although Verstappen finished with a big lead over Charles Leclerc after a tricky early season, he does not think the race year was perfect. The driver therefore reveals that Red Bull has plenty of work to do to further improve the situation.
