No 'sorry' from Verstappen: 'Normal to express frustration'

Bags of criticism were heaped on Max Verstappen after his emotional outbursts at the Hungarian Grand Prix. British media, in particular, blamed the Red Bull Racing driver for overreacting in his comments to his race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase. Verstappen has since indicated he will sit down with him to discuss the events at the Hungaroring. But it does not appear that Lambiase or anyone else at Red Bull will get an apology from Verstappen.
During the media day at Spa, the Dutchman was asked whether he felt team members were waiting for his apology? Not just Lambiase, but also the people who had decided the strategy, for example. "From my side, it was quite clear that the strategy was wrong. I'm very driven, like everyone else in the team, that we want to try and be perfect," Verstappen responded to GPblog and others.
"Now I know that every single race to do that is very hard. I think we came very close last year. When things are not going how they should have been, I think it's quite normal that you can share your frustration with it and that's what I did. When you're full of adrenaline and things are happening in the race that you're not happy with, you voice your frustration, but then also after the meeting, it's quite clear. You talk about these things that what we did was not optimal, how we executed the race, and we learned from it, and you just moved on," Verstappen said.

Verstappen hopes 'everyone is awake'

In any case, Verstappen and the result in Hungary has put everyone on edge. At least, that's what the Dutchman hopes. "Well, I hope that with the latest performances anyway, everyone is quite awake. I mean, we're always pushing for improvements and, like I mentioned before, trying to maybe optimise the car also a bit better, so just hope that we can improve the situation that we are in at the moment."
