UEFA has decided to move the 2022 Champions League final that was due to be held in St. Petersburg, Russia. It will be moved to Paris, France. The question is how will this affect Formula 1?
The whole world is currently watching the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, where Russia has decided to invade the neighbouring country. In the West, there is a sharp reaction to this and various sanctions are being taken against Russia. Even sport is not escaping it due to many ties with Russia.

Consequences for F1

The German soccer club Schalke, for example, has already chosen to break ties with the main sponsor Gazprom. The Russian oil company can no longer be seen on the shirt. The American F1 team Haas decided on Thursday that Uralkali and the Russian colours will no longer be seen on the car. Nikita Mazepin, as a Russian, will still drive for the team.
Although the Russian Grand Prix is not scheduled until September, questions were already being asked about this on Thursday. F1 stated that it was monitoring the situation, but should perhaps take an example from UEFA. They have decided to move the Champions League final in St. Petersburg from May 28 to Paris.
