Yuki Tsunoda's weekend already turned difficult before Qualifying even began. The Japanese driver eventually finished in P12 at the Canadian GP, but team principal Christian Horner has faith in him.
So far, Tsunoda has earned 7 points since he got promoted to Red Bull Racing from Racing Bulls.
Over eight weekends, his strongest finish is a P6 at the Miami Sprint, and he does not make regular appearances in Q3 either.
This weekend, he also got a 10-place grid penalty for a red flag infringement in FP3, which relegated him to last place on the grid after getting eliminated in Q2.

Tsunoda's crash in Imola also affected the Japanese driver in the long run, as he did not have a the same parts on his car as Max Verstappen did as a result.
Starting from last place in Canada also led to damage limitation again on Sunday.

“I thought he actually did a decent job," Horner began reacting to Tsunoda's performance after the race.
“You can see how hard overtaking is here. So actually I thought Yuki, he should have taken some confidence out of it. If he'd have started in his normal grid position that he qualified, he would have scored points today.”

Horner also explained he supports Tsunoda not relying on Verstappen.
"You're just trying to avoid what other drivers have gone down the road of, trying to adapt Max's setup, is to go his own route and work on what suits his style and his needs. And I think they've made some progress on that this weekend," he concluded.
