His team mate had the complete opposite emotion. Max Verstappen will start 20th and last after a crash in Q3 stopped him partaking in qualifying.

Sebastian Vettel joins his former team mate on the front row, followed by Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen.

Force India had a good session, Ocon and Perez both made Q3, joined by Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly.

It was not an enjoyable session for Haas, Grosjean’s penalty means he will start from P18 and Kevin Magnussen P19.
