Sergio Perez will start from pole position during Sunday's race. With Charles Leclerc sliding off the track during qualifying on Saturday, we have a surprising starting grid. Especially within the top-10, there are surprising names in different places than we are used to. For instance, Max Verstappen starts from P9.
Verstappen faces a challenge. The Dutchman has to win on Sunday from P9, where he starts. Kevin Magnussen will start from the second row of the grid. Because the Haas driver set a fine time before Leclerc flew off the track, the Dane can start from P4. Nyck de Vries set a better time than Yuki Tsunoda for the first time and may start from P15.
Lewis Hamilton got no further than 13th place in qualifying. So this is where he should start from on the grid. Charles Leclerc starts from seventh place for now, but the Monegasque might have to start from the pit lane. If the floor is so damaged the parc fermé rules will have to be broken. If so, Leclerc would receive a penalty for that, and would have to start from the pits.
