Stroll hits out and completely dissects Aston Martin’s first Newey-designed car

The first test in Barcelona largely passed Aston Martin by because the car wasn’t ready in time. The deficit to the competition had to be made up in Bahrain, but so far little is going right for the ambitious team.

“It is what it is” Lance Stroll told, among others, GPblog: “We’re trying to improve it every run, every day, and we’ll see how much more we can extract from the car.

When the Canadian was asked what the biggest issue is, he replied: “It’s a combination of things — engine, balance, grip. It’s not one thing, it’s a combination.” Even so, he cited the engine as the biggest problem “to a large extent.”

Telling is what Stroll said when asked if there’s anything positive to find about the car: “The livery looks nice.”

Stroll does have confidence that it will ultimately work out, because Adrian Newey and Honda are on board: “We have all the tools to fight for race wins and championships. We’re not doing that at the moment, and we have to think about what we can do better.”
