Andrea Stella is a happy man with both of his McLaren drivers locking out the front row ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, but still a word of wisdom for his drivers he believes can do no harm.
Summarising the way he saw the Qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix play out, Stella said to Viaplay: "Actually there was quite a lot of performance to extract, set after set. I think in the end in Q3 we went almost one second faster than the first attempt in Q1."
Not an easy feat at all, to extract the full potential of the McLaren car, pasrticularly with the circumstances at play during the Saturday afternoon session.
"So, well done to both drivers on finding this time that was available, because of the ambient conditions, but also because they were calibrating more and more on the speed required in a track that is pretty tricky, pretty difficult."

Happy problems for Stella? The job is not yet done, according to the Italian

After congratulating both drivers for locking out the front row, the Italian was also wary of the complexities inherent to the Spanish track. "But here is also one of the tracks with the longest run to corner one," he said.
"So there's quite a lot of work to do in terms of launch quality, defending the position in corner one, and anyhow I think it's going to be a long race, so not necessarily decided by the order at the end of lap one."
