Haas team principal Guenther Steiner says Formula 1 doesn’t need a knee-jerk reaction over pit issues in Australia, Bahrain and now China.
Both Haas cars retired from the Australian Grand Prix after experiencing back to back pitstop errors. Kimi Raikkonen was released from his pitstop in Bahrain despite a tyre yet to be changed. This incident leads to a broken leg.
And this morning Stoffel Vandoorne was released without his right rear tyre being screwed on correctly.
Despite these issues after just two races, Steiner insists an over-reaction isn’t required.
“If we make everything 100% safe, why the hell do we watch F1 racing? That’s my opinion,” said Steiner.

“If you make everything automated we can put robots there and we do it and there will be no problem but then who is going to watch us?
“I’m not saying that we should put people in danger, but how many years since we had the last injured man?
“The system worked, so why are we going to change it?
“Yes, we had a loose wheel, who paid the consequences?
“The people who put it on. Nobody else.”

The FIA has handed out its latest fine to McLaren after the issue in FP2 this afternoon.
McLaren was given a €5,000 fine whilst Ferrari was given a €50,000 for their incident.
