Andrew Shovlin is very pleased with the strong result that Mercedes has achieved in Hungary. George Russell could not convert his pole position into a victory, but with second and third place Mercedes are doing good business in the constructors' race.

Difficult start turned around

Mercedes' weekend in Hungary started disappointingly with a difficult Friday. "The team and drivers can be really proud of the way we'd turned the weekend around after Friday," Shovlin said in a press release from the German team.
Russell surprised friend and foe alike by taking pole position on Saturday for the first time in his Formula One career. On Sunday, Max Verstappen was a size too big for Russell and Lewis Hamilton, but with a second and third position Mercedes does take home a lot of points just before the summer break. "We still need a little more to get that first win of the season but every week it feels like it's getting closer and closer and the team is determined to make it to the top step soon," Shovlin continued.

Winning in the second half of the season

The engineer reveals that Mercedes, like all other teams, will enjoy a well-deserved holiday after a very difficult start to the new season. "We'll be wanting to continue where we left off in Spa and hoping for a strong finish to the year."
