Sergio Perez almost on pole position: "Some rain in the last sector"

Sergio Perez can be satisfied. He has been in his element all weekend in Austin and showed that in qualifying for the United States Grand Prix. The Mexican will start third on Sunday and can provide Max Verstappen with the necessary cover.

Under a standing ovation, Perez completes his post-qualifying interview. "We were very close on the final lap," he explains. "I think we did a great job as a team, but unfortunately, my final attempt was not as good throughout the lap. The rain hit me a bit too hard in the final sector and I lost some grip.

"It will be a long race tomorrow. I think the starting position is not the most relevant, because the tyre wear will be high. I'm looking forward to it," Perez said.
