Satisfied Verstappen: 'Porpoising no problem for Red Bull'

'Porpoising' produces remarkable images in Bahrain. Especially at Mercedes, the drivers are bouncing in all directions in their cockpits, but it is a problem that almost all teams have to deal with to some extent. At Red Bull, there seems to be no problem.

Max Verstappen finished the final day of testing as by far the fastest. The Red Bull apparently did not suffer from porpoising, as was also evident during his fastest lap. Asked about this, Verstappen confirms that porpoising is no longer a problem, he told Verstappen.com. The world champion indicates that some things were tried out in Barcelona, so there were no more concerns in Bahrain.

"We learned what you can do about it and in itself, it looks pretty good now," Verstappen says. Anyway, porpoising has little effect on speed. But in a high-speed corner it is anything but comfortable for the driver. Moreover, prolonged bouncing can cause damage to the car.

"You are pushed together, as it were, especially in your back and neck," Verstappen tells his own website. "That's not a nice feeling, especially when it gets really aggressive. Of course, you can drive a race with it, but I don't think you'll get out of your car very well afterwards."
