The Australian Grand Prix came to an early end for Carlos Sainz. The Ferrari driver spun through seemingly his own fault and then ended up in the gravel.
The Spaniard was already not having a happy weekend. Indeed, during qualifying Sainz set the ninth fastest time, which left him far from the performance of his teammate Charles Leclerc. However, he believed he could make up for it in the race.
During the start, however, he saw several drivers pass him, which quickly put him in fourteenth place. Then things went wrong for Sainz. In Turn 10, he made a wrong decision and spun across the track. In the process, he was lucky not to hit anyone and ended up in the gravel.

Leclerc gets a good start

On the contrary, Leclerc had an excellent start. The Monegasque started from pole position with Max Verstappen behind him and managed to keep his rival behind him. He is still on top of the world championship with 45 points, followed by Sainz with 33 points.
