Pirelli announces change qualifying: This changes!

Pirelli has announced that major innovations are coming regarding qualifying at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix weekend. In particular, it concerns tyre usage. In Q1, only the hard tyre will be used. In Q2 only the medium tyres and in Q3 only the soft tyres.

Over the weekend of 21 May, drivers will use only one tyre compound in each session, as mentioned, reports Sky Sports. This system and the alternative tyre allocation will also be tested at another GP, yet to be announced.

Teams will have six sets of tyres available for qualifying and five sets between free practice and the Grand Prix. During free practice there will even be qualifying simulations with the hardest compounds. Moreover, this will prevent you from arriving in qualifying without ever having driven a flying lap on medium and hard tyres.
