Piastri's debut ends in tears: McLaren driver first retirement

Oscar Piastri's Grand Prix debut ended in disappointment. The brand-new McLaren driver had to park his car in the garage due to a technical problem.

McLaren's problems since the winter test clearly carried over to the Bahrain Grand Prix. Piastri noticed a problem with his gearbox, after which his team called him in for a new wheel. After this, the driver could not get the MCL60 running again and was forced to retire.

Not only Piastri, teammate Lando Norris was also plagued by technical problems. The Briton came in for two stops early in the race and then drove around in an inglorious last place.
