Sergio Perez's position as a Red Bull driver has been under discussion in Formula 1 for quite a few months. The Red Bull driver recently signed a new contract with Red Bull Racing, but this is said to have included a performance clause. In any case, there is no ultimatum according to the Mexican, which he firmly denied in an interview with Viaplay in Hungary.

Perez adamantly denies Red Bull's ultimatum

The six-time Grand Prix winner has been heavily criticised. The Mexican believes his position as a Red Bull driver makes it harder to avoid critique. "There are a lot of drivers who haven't been performing at one hundred per cent. When you drive at Red Bull it's a lot more noticeable, and people talk about you more than the other drivers. I think it's normal, but the focus is fully on track," he explained.
According to Perez himself, there is no set 'points deficit' which will cause him to lose his seat. Asked if he had been given an ultimatum by Red Bull, the driver replied, "No, not at all. There is a lot of talk out there, but what we do on track is what really matters." Perez concluded. The Mexican finished FP2 in fourth place in what was a positive Friday for Red Bull.
