Norris is fed up: 'A critical topic that we need to sort out'

Lando Norris is fed up with the so-called sausage kerbs and wants them to disappear as much as possible. Norris writes in his column for The Telegraph that he is worried about the high kerbs after recent incidents at both Silverstone and Monza.

During the six hours of Monza on Sunday, Aston Martin driver Henrique Chaves crashed very hard after his car was launched by the sausage kerb at the second chicane. The Aston Martin flipped over and even lost a door. Chaves was fortunately unhurt. A week earlier it had already gone wrong at Silverstone. Formula 2 driver Dennis Hauger was launched by the sausage kerb and ended up on top of Roy Nissany's car. Nissany was saved by his halo and suffered no injuries.

"With Formula One cars running lower to the ground than ever, and stiffer than ever, we need to act because when these cars hit these kerbs, you do not ride them. You can be launched into the air," Norris writes. According to the McLaren driver, the landings after such a crash can be very painful.

Norris calls Chaves' solid crash a reminder that Formula One needs to step in. "Issues such as sausage kerbs are, in my eyes at least, a critical topic that we need to sort out sooner rather than later," concludes the young Briton.
