Mid-field battle beginning to spark

McLaren hold 4th place in the constructors' championship as the mid-field battle heats up!

Renault scored 10 points in the Chinese Grand Prix this morning to take their 2018 total up to 25.

McLaren’s solitary driver in the points was Fernando Alonso who took home 7th place after overtaking a limping Sebastian Vettel on the penultimate lap.

Last years midfield winners, Force India, still only have 1 championship point, as their grip on 4th becomes loose.

Both of their drivers just missed out on the points after coming very close. Esteban Ocon finished 11th whilst Sergio Perez finished in 12th.

Toro Rosso’s triumph in Bahrain wasn’t backed up as Hartley was the only driver not to complete the race. Gasly finished 18th, 12 places down since last Sunday.

Haas wasn’t as dominant on the Shanghai International Circuit compared with the opening two races. The difference between Haas and 4th place is now 17 points.

McLaren and Renault seem to be in the prime position to challenge ‘the best of the rest’ title.
