The first two free practice sessions of the Qatar Grand Prix proved that Mercedes have a good chance of winning this weekend. The German formation looked better than Red Bull Racing in all sectors, Lawrence Barretto noticed.
The journalist for the official website of Formula 1 stated in his analysis that after his rock solid weekend in Brazil, Hamilton seems to be ready to take another victory. It would immediately bring the Brit closer again to Verstappen in the World Championship.
"They may have had their request for a right to review of the Sao Paulo GP's incident between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton rejected, but Mercedes will still be heading into the Qatari evening with a spring in their step after their efforts on Friday," Barretto wrote.
"Across both the warmer first practice session and cooler second session, when conditions were more representative of qualifying and the race, it was the Mercedes who started off on the stronger foot."

Furthermore, Barretto noted that Hamilton is doing well. With two second place finishes and one win, the Brit is getting everything out of his car. "With a huge haul of laps on the board and Bottas' data to work off, too, the reigning world champion is looking in good shape."
