Toto Wolff has confirmed that Formula 1 will be Mercedes’ sole focus from now on.
“We’re a Formula One racing team. We don’t want to go sailing. We don’t want to do any other sports”
- Toto Wolff
In previous years, Mercedes was involved in the America’s Cup via the Mercedes-AMG F1 team’s Applied Science division, supporting a British challenge by contributing advanced engineering expertise and technical insight to the INEOS Britannia effort across multiple campaigns, most notably in the lead-up to the 2021 and 2024 editions.
Speaking to Forbes, the Silver Arrows’ team principal revealed that the partnership has now come to an end, as has any prospect of Mercedes becoming involved in other sports in the foreseeable future.
“We don’t want to do this anymore,” he said. “We’re a Formula One racing team. We don’t want to go sailing. We don’t want to do any other sports. Complete focus (must be) on only Formula One.”
