Verstappen names Ferrari as favourites for Russian Grand Prix

With a 1-2 in Singapore and back-to-back wins at Spa and Monza, Ferrari have demonstrated their car can now work on any type of circuit on the Formula 1 calendar. Max Verstappen agrees as he puts Ferrari as favourites to win the Russian Grand Prix at the weekend.

As Verstappen predicts Ferrari to do well, he plays down his own chances. He claims the Red Bull car will struggle around the Sochi Autodrom.

"Ferrari was strong last weekend and the circuit of Sochi will also suit them because of the long straights. This track is not very suitable for us, but it is a unique track with many ninety degrees of bends," Verstappen tells Motorsport.com.

“The combination of long straight sections and slow turns is a challenge. You need to get the maximum out of the car when braking. Moreover, you can see pretty quickly on this circuit whether the car is doing well in the difficult turns," concludes the Dutchman.
