Verstappen has lots of contact with F1 champion: 'We text each other often'

Max Verstappen maintains a close relationship with Sebastian Vettel. The two four-time world champions are in frequent contact with each other and text each other after almost every Formula 1 race, the Red Bull Racing driver reveals.

Verstappen says he is in touch with Vettel throughout the year, who, like Verstappen, won four world titles with Red Bull. "We app each other after almost every race. Sebastian is very nice, I like him a lot," the Dutchman told the programme Sport und Talk aus dem Hangar-7 on Servus TV.

During the same broadcast, Verstappen says he does not expect his own team to be the big favourite next year. During the 2024 F1 season, Red Bull faced a lot of opposition and was even overtaken by McLaren and Ferrari, while Mercedes was also stronger at times.

"We won't be the favourite next year, but that's okay. We had problems and now we have to get going and change things. In the last 12 or 13 races, we were not the fastest. We have to change a lot to be first, but maybe it's also good not to be the favourite for once," Verstappen concluded.
