Verstappen won't bet on himself to win just yet: 'I wouldn't do it'

Max Verstappen could become Formula 1 world champion for the fourth time tomorrow in Las Vegas. The Red Bull Racing driver, in a typical cool manner, is totally unconcerned. Speaking to Dutch media, including GPblog, Verstappen briefly explained that he won't be betting on himself to win in the gambling capital of the world.
"Fifth place is not ideal, but on the other hand, we are ahead of McLaren, which I think is most important for the championship. We are obviously driving our own race, of course. We'll see how it goes with the tyres because so far, the long runs on mediums have not been a success," Verstappen said.
Lando Norris sits 62 points behind the Dutchman. It's a relatively large gap with just three races to go. Therefore, how much risk does Verstappen want to take with the Brit right behind him? "We'll see that tomorrow, you know. I'm not concerned with that," Verstappen said in his typically unbothered fashion.

Verstappen won't bet on himself to win the title:

"I just wouldn't gamble, that's better. Then I would just throw it off your balcony. You lose it anyway. No, yeah, I don't know, I don't like gambling. I just wouldn't do it," the 27-year-old driver responded, laughing.
