Max Verstappen remained calm when he was asked about 20 seconds worth of penalties he received by the stewards after his battle with Lando Norris. He also joked about breaking that record as well.

Verstappen: 'Maybe next time 30 seconds'

Verstappen did not elaborate on the two 10-second penalties he got during for what happened in his battle against Norris early on in Mexico City, however approached it in a different way: "Maybe they should target 30 next time and go for the record," he joked when talking to DAZN following the race.
Talking in the paddock later at the Autodrom Hermanos Rodriguez, the Dutchman was asked about whether stewards are inconsistent, given that Norris' penalty in Austin was only five minutes. "Let's try 20 next year. Yeah, it doesn't matter. I have no opinion," Verstappen said.
Early this year, standard penalties for the offences Verstappen was found guilty for were increasing from five to 10 seconds, even as some events, five second penalties are still given out to drivers. The Dutchman does not care whether the standard penalty is too high or too low. "Honestly it's also not in my interest. I just keep racing," he concluded.
