Yuki Tsunoda's late crash on Friday during the second free practice came as a shock to everyone, includling Red Bull Racing advisor, Helmut Marko.
With less than 10 minutes to go, Tsunoda accidentally tapped the inner corner of the last turn. As he hit his front left wheel, the suspension broke, leaving his car uncontrollable. After that, he hit the right side of the wall, thus causing debris and red flagging the session.
About the incident, Marko said, "Yes, on the single lap he was driving with a different setup on purpose so we see which direction to go."
He told GPBlog and others, "I think that was unlucky, he hit the wall on the inside, and then it was just a passenger, and I hope it's not too much damage, but the speed is okay, the crash is unlucky."
What Marko was suprised about was when the crash happened. He said, "I would say the crash would be more expected in the qualifying lap, not in the long run."
