Kevin Magnussen caused a big surprise on Friday by securing pole position in qualifying. Afterwards, the Dane was in front of Viaplay's camera and also reacted to the performance with surprise, thanking his team extensively.
In wet conditions, Magnussen managed to record an excellent time immediately in Q3. However, the Haas F1 driver did not seem to be able to hold first place for long, until George Russell crashed and race control decided not to allow DRS in the remainder of the session.
It produced a very enthusiastic Magnussen who managed to achieve the impossible with the American formation. "It's super well-deserved for the team. Without all that good work today we wouldn't get pole position. They just did a phenominal job," the driver began.

Just after qualifying, he could barely contain his emotions, he said in the same interview. "I have no idea. I don't know what had happened. I don't know how I got this pole position. It's incredible," Magnussen said, starting the sprint race with Verstappen behind him.
