Lewis Hamilton has been left absent from the New Years Honours list despite claiming a sixth World Championship with Mercedes in 2019 leaving many fans questioning why.
Hamilton wrapped up his sixth title this year, his fifth this decade, and helped Mercedes to their sixth constructors title in a row that saw him win 11 of the 21 races on the calendar.

He now sits just one World Championship behind legend Michael Schumacher, as well as being only eight race wins off breaking the Germans record of 91 victories.

The Briton was awarded an MBE in 2008 after winning his first championship with McLaren but is yet to join the likes of Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham and Jackie Stewart in receiving a knighthood.

Hamilton was recently named second in BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year to Cricketer Ben Stokes, who has been selected for an OBE on the New Years Honours list, leaving many to argue why the 34-year old has still been left out.
