Lewis Hamilton compares 2021 F1 rule changes to Brexit

Lewis Hamilton has compared the 2021 regulation changes to Brexit, with not one person able to say for sure whether the situation will benefit Formula 1 or not.

The deadline for the sign-off for the 2021 season has been pushed back to the latter stages of October. The rules changing is meant to try and help the smaller teams bridge the gap between themselves and the bigger teams to try and make F1 a more competitive competition.

The five-time world champion is not convinced F1 can use fan-favourite characteristics when deciding the rules in October: "Probably not, it's highly unlikely. If you look at all the car manufacturers, the way they're progressing, it's all about technology and evolution. So we're not going backwards.

However, with the uncertainty surrounding the 2021 regulation changes, the Mercedes man has compared it to Great Britain leaving the European Union.

"The most interesting time that's coming is 2021 and whether they got it right or wrong," Hamilton added. "It's a bit like the whole Brexit thing, or the thing going on in the States.
