Engineering veteran Xevi Pujolar has been working with Charles Leclerc for a long time, and he’s sure that the rookie is a potential future world champion.
Pujolar, who also worked with Max Verstappen in his time at Toro Rosso, tells Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo that the Monegasque has all the tools to become champion.
“He’s a potential world champion, I’m sure of it,” he said.
The 20-year-old started the season slowly but has been in excellent form recently, as he’s finished in the points in back-to-back races in his Sauber. If he ever makes the switch to a better car, expectations for him will be high.
“He’s the type of person that will eventually win, because he always looks for the limit,” Pujolar continues.

“He goes all out, and he expects the people around him to do the same.”
Potential world champion or not, Leclerc has certainly impressed over the last few races. The fact that he’s finished with points in consecutive races deserves some credit. He already has more points than the entire team did over the whole of 2017, to give you an idea of what Leclerc is capable of.
