Bad luck for Leclerc: No TPC run in Barcelona after Hamilton's crash

Lewis Hamilton's Wednesday did not go according to plan at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, but his new teammate, Charles Leclerc was just as disappointed. The Monegasque driver was scheduled to drive the SF-23 in the afternoon, but could not do so because of the damage sustained during the aforementioned incidnet.

Hamilton drove the SF-23 (the car Ferrari competed with in the 2023 season) during the second day of the team's scheduled TPC (testing of previous car) session in Barcelona. The Briton lost control of the Ferrari around 11am local time. It was said that it happened during a normal part of the test Ferrari was doing with Hamilton behind the steering wheel. Hamilton is yet to completely master the Ferrari, having driven for Mercedes for more than a decade previously. This was only the second time Hamilton was in the Ferrari, following his brief first run at Fiorano.

Ferrari's intention was repair the car for Leclerc, who would then complete his scheduled laps during the afternoon. Once the car was brought to the garage, the team saw it took more time to repair the car then what they originally hoped so. Because of the sun going down however, it was not possible for Leclerc to go out on track.

There will be no changes to Ferrari's Thursday schedule. As previously announce, the test will continue with Antonio Giovinazzi and F2 driver Dino Beganovic behind the steering wheel. At the same time, Leclerc and Hamilton have both left Barcelona.
