Drivers from India have been a rarity in the history of Formula One. Only twice has someone from the immense country been at the start of a Grand Prix: Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandhok. The latter drove 11 Grands Prix, without too much success. These days, Chandhok is a pundit for Sky Sports.
Chandhok knows his classics. These days he is present at most of the races, the heroes of the past the Indian knows from old footage. Chandhok has a clear preference when talking about the greatest driver Formula 1 has ever had. That is not Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen.

Unrivalled season

It is exactly 55 years since Clark crashed during a race at Hockenheim on 7 April. The two-time world champion died on the way to hospital. Although Chandhok never saw Clark live at work himself, the former driver of HRT and others considers him the best ever. "His 1965 season is yet unparalleled in this sport - F1 World Champion, Indy 500 winner, Tasman Cup champion, French F2 champion plus numerous saloon car and Sportscar wins in a single year," Chandhok writes on Twitter.
Chandhok writes in his Tweet that Formula 1 has never had a better driver within its ranks: "The greatest driver ever," the pundit wrote.
