Daniil Kvyat impressed many last weekend when he finished on the podium in third place for Toro Rosso at the German Grand Prix. Fans and pundits speculated after the race that the Russian could be in line to replace Pierre Gasly at Red Bull but Jacques Villeneuve believes that Kvyat has had his time at a top team.
"They [Red Bull] have already had him, why would they do that? That's not the way to go," Villeneuve said to Motorsport.com.
"It's very different to drive in a big or a small team, some of the drivers are incredible in small teams, and they are not in big teams, and it happens even with 10 years of experience.
"You know, we even saw that happen with experienced drivers, they won races in a small team, go to a big team, struggle to win, go back to a small team and start winning again. I don't know how."
Kvyat will hope that the top teams disagree with Villeneuve and that there is an opportunity for him to get to the top of Formula 1.
