Charles Leclerc had a brand new Ferrari engine in the back of his car during the Russian Grand Prix. The first results are promising, on Friday the Monegasque said he could already feel the improvement in the car.
In Sochi, Leclerc could finally use it: the new engine from Ferrari. It seemed to be an instant success, because until the rain came, Leclerc drove a strong race in which he made up a lot of positions after starting nineteenth.

How much stronger is the Ferrari powerplant?

"I feel it's a bit better. That's great, and the data confirms that," Leclerc says according to Motorsport-Total.com. "It's great that you can feel it and see it." Leclerc drove a strong race in Sochi and was on the points race for a long time after starting from P19, but the rain caused him to drop back to a paltry fifteenth place with a few laps to go.
Team boss Mattia Binotto doesn't want to say much about exactly how much horsepower Ferrari has gained: "I don't want to quantify that. It's confidential. For us, it is much more important that it has brought us a step forward with this new technology. These experiences will certainly help us with a view to 2022."
