Is Hamilton the best? Verstappen: 'What is the point of comparing?'

The question that invariably returns is who is the best driver ever and if that is Lewis Hamilton. Many have had their say and in a new video from Red Bull Racing that question is also put to Max Verstappen. He doesn't call Hamilton the best ever, but he believes that the seven-time champion is one of the best drivers ever.

"I don't like to compare different generations between drivers", Verstappen starts his answer. "It's just very difficult, but it's a fact for sure that he is one of the best ever. That's for sure. I think everyone agrees on that".

"I also think you shouldn't want to compare great drivers in Formula One. Just appreciate them, that they were or are part of Formula 1". That's what Albon agrees with, drawing a comparison. "I see that a lot more in American sports where they find statistics."

Verstappen: "Yes, indeed, but what is the point? Appreciate the talent and the good drivers who have been in Formula 1 and who are still in Formula 1". And so it is clear that Verstappen doesn't want to make a comparison and never will. Looking at statistics is fun, but in the end it doesn't say that much.

However, the Dutchman is convinced that Lewis Hamilton is absolutely one of the best drivers ever.
