Christian Horner says that Max Verstappen needs to “modify his approach” if he is to see positive results return.
Dutchman Verstappen has been involved in a number if incidents this season already, which has limited him to just 35 World Championship points, less than half of team mate Daniel Ricciardo’s tally.
Verstappen was expected to kick on after a good season last year, winning twice on his way to 168 points, but it hasn’t gone his way so far.
His latest mishap was the crash in FP3 in Monaco that caused him to miss qualifying and start the race last. He did however manage to scythe through the field on his way to P9.
“He needs to go away from this weekend and reflect on what could have been, what should have been, and apply that for the future,” said Horner.

“Max has an abundance of talent. He’s had some harsh lessons, obviously, this year and I think a modified approach will benefit him.
“What’s frustrating is that he’s working harder than ever. He feels fitter than ever and it feels like he’s trying a bit too hard.
“When you get into a spiral you try harder. You have to hit the reset button.”
