Horner hopes rain will stay away, as crucial pole-giving choice may secure loss at British GP

Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing's team principal sees that Max Verstappen's British GP will be all about survival and prays for rain to circle past Silverstone. Here's why.
Red Bull, from Friday to Saturday, made some overnight changes that helped mitigate the understeer Verstappen's RB21 was suffering from. Dropping downforce was essential for the Dutchman to ultimately nab a shock pole position no one saw coming, not even the Dutchman himself.
The radical setup choice, Horner thinks could give Verstappen more work to do. “We’ve got a rear wing on the car that’s about the same size as a tea tray, so it’s going to be about to survive these early laps," the Briton said to Sky Sports.

In the rain, such little downforce will make the car more difficult to drive, but the last edition of the British Grand Prix, during which rain hit the track, also provided an unpredictable result with Leiws Hamilton and Verstappen taking the top 2 spots ahead of the McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. "Hopefully the circuit will start to dry. Anything can happen. Conditions like this, you can’t predict,“ Horner added.
"You’ve just got to try make use of the pole and get off the line cleanly,” Horner concluded.
